An Explanation Of Wicca

Monday, December 14th, 2009

Wicca is a Neopagan religion, that is also often referred to as Witchcraft or the Craft[1] by its adherents,
who are known as Wiccans or Witches. Wicca, like the Celtic religion, allows women full participation in the practice.
Wicca as a religion was introduced by Gerald Gardner in the 1950s.

Wicca is essentially an immanent religion, and for some Wiccans, this idea also involves elements of animism.
Wicca is not an ancient religion, but Gardner did incorporate some old esoteric knoweldge into his original tradition,
including Eastern mysticism, Kabballah, and British legend.
Wicca does not embrace the concepts of sin, heaven or hell, the evils of sex or nudity, confession, Satanism, animal
sacrifice, or the inferiority of women.

Wiccans do NOT believe in hurting people, taking drugs, killing animals, telling lies, doing sexually perversive acts,
drinking animal’s blood, stealing, summoning demons (they don’t believe in demons) or performing Black magic.
Wiccan beliefs vary between different traditions, however there are commonalities between the various groups,
which usually revolve around views on theology, the afterlife, magic and morality.

Wicca is not an ancient religion, but Gardner did incorporate some old esoteric knoweldge into his original tradition,

Wicca is the native tradition for the nations of England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales, and is rooted in the period
before 500 BC which marks the start of the iron age. Wicca is a Neo-Pagan religion based on the pre-Christian traditions ofEngland,
Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.
Wicca is based on a deep respect for nature and the certain knowledge that we do not have the right to exploit it for our own gain. Wicca is not traditional folk magic and all magic is not necessarily Wiccan, anymore than all people who pray belong to any particular religion.

How To Find Information For The Beginner Wicca

Friday, December 11th, 2009

While flipping through television channels three years ago. A news report about a man who followed Wicca caught my eye. He said he had a premonition the night before buying the winning ticket that he would win. So he went to the local mart and bought a ticket and sure enough he won.

I had heard about Wicca before but now I was intrigued. What was the power of Wicca that this man attributed he good fortune to it?

I immediately began to research Wicca on the web.

The difficult part is Wicca has different meanings to different people , unlike Judiasm or Catholicism which has the Torah and the Bible. For me this was a good thing as I never believed there is one set of rules to follow when it comes to religion. It does make finding good information really hard.

The next problem I encountered in my search for answers was Wicca has attracted many people who simply want to take advantage of people like me. These so called experts spread miss truths and use false knowledge for power and control. Wicca has been underground for so long because of persecution it made it easy for these people. There are however many good people filled with knowledge and they are just waiting for you to find them.

So where do you find them?

This used to be tricky, it is not anymore. Simply visit any of the Wiccan Community sites or bulletin boards. These sites tend to weed out the people spreading misinformation. They are usually filled with people at every stage of learning from beginners like me to life long second and third generation practitioners.

Following Wicca no longer has to be a solitary pursuit. You will be welcomed with open arms and have plenty of resources to begin or further your education.

Blessed Be.
